About Us
Who are the Christians that meet at 1601 S. Pratt Parkway in Longmont, CO?  We are neither Jewish, Catholic, nor Protestant.  We do our best to be simply Christians in name, doctrine and practice.  As the followers of Jesus Christ, we have fully devoted ourselves to worship and actively serve Him according to the teaching of Jesus and his apostles.  We wear no name but Christ's (Christian), yet we do not claim to have attained to everything His name represents.  As member of a church of God or a church of Christ, we do not make the claim to be the "only Christians", but we do want to be what disciples were in the first century - "Christians Only."

We are fully convinced the disciples we read about in the book of Acts and the letters of Paul were not members of different denominations - but were united in one body, one faith, and under one Lord (Ephesians 4:4-6).  We believe that a person can be loyal to  denominational body and yet not be loyal to Christ.  We see this in the example of the Pharisees who were very zealous in the Jewish religion, but stood in opposition to Jesus.  In fact, they were in many ways responsible for His death.  We even see in ourselves the tendence to substitute tradition from our own religious background and equate it with faith in Christ.  However, we long to belong only to Christ and see no scriptural reason to join up with one of the hundreds of denominations that now exist in our culture.

We stand on the Bible as our source of knowledge about Jesus and his church.  However, we also know that as mere humans we often don't understand it fully.  Therefore, we study; we discuss, and we pray for guidance.  We seek help from others.  As teachers of his word, we humbly and patiently help others who hearts seek a closer relationship with Jesus and desire to more fully understand his word.

We urge you, our neighbor, to join us in "being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit" (Ephesians 4:3-6).  The only way we can answer Christ's prayer for unity (John 17:20-21) is to let the Bible be our only creed.  Jesus Christ is a totally sufficient Savior and His word is a totally sufficient guide.

His word is perfect.  However, we make no such claim for our understaning and application of His word.  Therefore, we are willing to study with anyone who can teach us the way of God more perfectly (Acts 18:25-26).  We desire to speak where the Bible speaks and obey its commands.  We are cautious about practicing things in our walk with God that are not found in his word.  We are aware that human traditions (Matthew 15:1-9), divisive names (1 Corintians 1:10-13), man-made creeds, and human organizations (Matthew 15:13) are a threat to true religion.

The church of Jesus Christ was purposed before the foundation of the world, and is to manifest the wisdon of God, not our own wisdom (Ephesians 3:10-11).  The church of Christ is simply the saved people.  Our eternal existence is not dependent on a succession of popes or an organization of preachers.  Neither is it dependent on synods, councils, magazines, colleges, or denominational headquarters.  The life principle of the saved people (the church) is the Spirit who gave us the word of God (Luke 8:11, 1 Peter 1:22-23, John 6:63).  Anywhere and in any century that men and women let their hearts surrender to Jesus and his word - the church of Jesus Christ will flourish.

Will you investigate our plea to simply be a Christian?  We hope you will visit our assemblies, let us study the word of God with you.
